Bedruthan Steps

Bedruthan Steps is a glorious section of the north Cornwall coast between Newquay and Padstow. A steep set of man-made steps leads down the rocky cliffs giving access at low tide to a stunning beach of golden sands and exposed rock stacks. These stacks are the actual 'steps' of the place name; legend has it that they are stepping stones created by the Cornish giant Bedruthan. The tide comes in fast here and it is easy to get cut off (as I almost found out to my cost, having to scramble back over the rocks). The sun sets out to sea here, giving a beautiful glow to the golden sands of the beach at sunset. When the tide is in, the waves crash onto the rocks and the sea often seems to be 'boiling'.
